CREATOR'S
DESIRE
(by Paul Gerardi)
To write
a poem, coin a phrase
To sing a song, have thoughts engage
To create a painting, from the glow inside
To build within nature, and live with pride
To climb a mountain, the majestic loft
To sail the seas, on breezes soft
To work with hands, sculpt an image
To fashion garb, and wear the plumage
To speak
with gusto, to an audience wide
To fly a spaceship, beyond the sky
To move the spirit, a world unfolds
To experience life, what each day holds
Each one different, each one unique
Each one singular, each one speaks
Together they chorus, a symphony sweet
All parts separate, the music complete
From
a universal place, within ourselves
We call the fates, with stories to tell
Of places magic, of times divine
of chances future, of mistakes behind
To tell a story, have the words come alive
To know you have laughed, and know you have cried
To climb the mountain, stand on the summit
Trust a look down, your life will not plummet
To create
something new, from provisions old
To discover the beauty, of mysteries untold
To each one a cheer, of good will and solace
To each one a prayer, that ideas still call us
To glide through space, to sail the seas
To plant a garden, and sow the seeds
To write a poem, to sing a song
To move the spirit
As life moves on
